Have you ever tried making a wish upon a small stone in nature?
Share
Whether in Japanese shrines, Tibetan Mani stone stacks, or ancient Celtic traditions, customs of making wishes on stones or seeking healing through them have been passed down for millennia.
Stones silently witness the stories of the Earth, carrying the energy of time. They are not rushed like humans, yet they possess a calming strength.
The Stone Wishing Method
Next time you’re in nature, you can try to:
Gently pick up a small stone that attracts you. Whisper your wish or something that’s been causing you anxiety to it. Sincerely entrust it to the universe, and feel the release that comes from “externalizing” your desires. You may find that as burdens are gently released, your heart gradually returns to peace.
The Stone Mindfulness Exercise
Alternatively, you don’t even need a wish.
Simply choose a stone and focus on feeling its texture, temperature, and weight. Direct all your attention to your fingertips, allowing your thoughts to detach from worries and return purely to the present moment. This in itself is a form of meditation, a healing time just for you.
May we all find peace and joy in the little pebbles in Mother Nature.
